The Official Statement on Kentucky

After quite a few inquiries about the current state of things with Josh, I figured I'd just post a quick note. Josh and I are no longer talking. It ended a few days ago, but I didn't feel up to writing about it then. Things just didn't work out. I have my theories and I'm sure he has his, but in the end...it just wasn't working. I'm very sad about it, but it is what it is - I'm not the first person to have a broken heart. He's an awesome person and I will always care about him. I hope that after some time, we can go back to being the good friends we were before. Much love to all my friends and kick-ass family for being so spectacularly cool and supportive! For now, it's back to my fabulous, single self! WOO!

P.S. The picture is a representation of the future...me and Josh, being buddies. I'm the dog, of course. Dogs rule. Cats and boys will always drool. :D

Thank you!

I had a lovely birthday yesterday! I got to spend most of the day with my family and my dad even took me up the gun club to go shoot some "sheeeet"! WOO! Thank you to everyone that called, texted or emailed me!

On a sad note, Lola learned the all-too-important lesson about eating cow poo. It makes you need to poo. A lot. LOL! Good thing I love the little retard!

Love you all! xoxox

Feliz Cumpleanos a MI!

That's "Happy Birthday to ME!" for all you non-Spanish speakers. That's right. Sunday is the day. I will be 28-years old! TWENTY-EIGHT! Wow! I can't believe I've been here for twenty-eight years! Happy Birthday to ME!!

I've never understood why people fear getting older. I truly look forward to it! I look back to everything I knew (read: I THOUGHT I knew!) only five years ago and it never fails to amaze me how far I've come. Each passing year manages to bring more wisdom, humility, and understanding. Every year, bit by bit, I feel like I manage to firm my grasp on what's really important. I know I won't ever come full circle, but I don't want to. I anticipate the learning each year brings! It's funny how certain phrases like, "That which does not destroy me, makes me stronger", or your parents saying, "One day you'll understand" begin to resonate.

While I find myself paying more attention to anti-wrinkle creams (HAHA!), I'm glad another year has come and gone. I'm truly happy with where I'm at right now. I have an amazing family: my dad who understands and loves me like no one else, my "mudder", the kindest and most thoughtful person I know (we should all be so accepting), and a brother that is in truth, my best friend. I surround myself with the most diverse, good-natured, kick-ass group of friends a girl could ever ask for! And, I've managed to meet someone (yes, a boy) that seems to be everything and more I've ever wanted in a man; whether it works out with him or not, he (and the occasional romantic comedy) continue to keep the faith that "that person" is out there somewhere for me. All that and a wonderful extended family, a dog that keeps me laughing, a job I enjoy, a place to live... To say that I feel lucky in this life I've created would be an understatement.

I've laughed my ass off, cried my heart out, felt fury and pain, been overwhelmingly happy, and crushed by heartbreak. All the while, I've slapped on a smile and whistled my way through it. To borrow some lyrics from one of my favorite Jewel songs..."I'm 28-years old that ain't the end, but it sure ain't where I began..."

Here's to next year! Happy Burfday! :D

Canyonlands Camp Pics!

4.22.2008

*yawn* Vacation from a vacation?!

Well I made it home from the Canyonlands Camping trip. Super fun! I got my fill of hot dogs, dirt, 4-wheelers and family. We had some amazing weather (and not so amazing wind - meh) and went on some beautiful rides. I even got to be cool and attempt a few sandhills on the 4-wheeler! I managed to forget my camera for most of the rides and truthfully I was just having too much fun to worry, but I'll post some pics from other people when I get them.

Trip highlights:

  • Racing the Rhino through the sandy riverbeds! I won. Yep.
  • Watching J-Lo haul butt in the Rhino over the whoops at the bottom of the sandhills. I'm still laughing!! :D
  • Making the obligatory trip back into Monticello for forgotten items with Lou, driving in the Rhino with Lou, night rides in the Rhino with Lou... Just hanging out with Lou. I love my "big sister"! :)
  • Avoiding death from rabid squirrels and mad cows! LOL!
  • Hanging out with Ash, Breckyn and "Chuck"!
  • Bunking up with my Uncle Kirk in his trailer. THANK YOU!!
  • Me rocking the dirt-mustache. I'm so hot!!
  • Sitting by the campfire on the last night with Lou, J-Lo and Kirk and laughing at the follies of the weekend!

Thank you sooo much to J-Lo and Lou for inviting me, sharing food, providing my favorite, sick-ass, trusty 4-wheeler, and just being two of the best family members and friends I could ask for! You all are rockstars!

On that note, I'm pooped! HAHA! My body is sore from riding all weekend and I'm pretty sure I could use more sleep. I'm desperately in need of a vacation from my vacation! LOL! But...I can't wait for next year!! WOO!

Uh-camping we will go!

Uh-camping we will go...uh-camping we will go...high-ho-the-deli-oh...uh-camping we will go! Today's the day! The Grizzle and I are off to beautiful Southern Utah for four days of sun, dirt, fresh air and fire-roasted hotdogs! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I know I will!! Canyonlands, baby! WOO! La-la-la-la-laaaaaa!

FOUR DAYS!!!

Canyonlands Camping is almost here!! YAY! Four more days and it's time for dirt, hot dogs, four-wheelin' and, of course, CAMPING!

WOOHOO!

Lola Grizzle :D

Well everyone knows Lola, but she asked me this morning (after she climbed into the shower and ate some shampoo) to dedicate a post and give everyone a little background... Lola Grizzle was born September 25, 2006 and is a pure-bred Boston Terrier. She eats expensive dog food from IFA, thinks George is a stupid face cat (author agrees), and would vote for harsher penalties for parole violators if she had opposable thumbs. The vet told her a couple weeks ago that she needed to lose 2-3 pounds, or approximately 10% of her body weight. In response to that, Lola took a dump in the vet's office! HUZZAH!

Lola responds to Cletus, Bee, Poo-Face and "Lola Bucket Grizzle, the Medieval Warrior" (that's a whole other post...love you Mel!). Her favorite entrees include cardboard, Canine-Carry-Out treats and leftover tuna fish juice. She loves (read: LOOOVES!!!) everyone, but Lynn (my dad) seems to be her favorite. If Lola could talk, I'm pretty sure she'd say this about him: "Lynn?! LYNN!!! HEY BEST FRIEND! I love you! This is my ball and you can have it! I love you! Where are you going, my best friend?!?! I'm coming! I'll follow! I LOVE YOU!" I'm sure my dad feels the same way. Riiiight.

Besides destroying random toys and sneaking into my bed in the middle of the night, Lola's mission is to rid the world of all evil-doers! These include, but are not limited to: the garbage truck, little kids on bikes or skateboards, my hair straightener, the vacuum and helium-filled balloons. Oh and extremely fat people in long skirts. Or in Lola's world...unnatural walking tents. Meh.

FIRSTIES!

The first post! WOO! Apparently blogging is the cool, new thing to do so Lola and I, being that we're ultra-cool, have decided to join! So that's about it for now. Check back when I get all wordly and write about french fries, world peace and the daily shenanigans of me and The Grizzle! Viva La Resistance! :D
