New Layout Excitement

I updated my blog layout. And yes, I did in fact make my new blog header photo thing. It's to scale. And pretty. :)

Lola was excited about the new layout:

Christmas Vacate

Lola and I are on vacation. YUSSSS!

I finished up my finals last week...two days before Christmas. Oh and I rocked them. Yep. I got two A's and a B which I'm super happy with. Last quarter was tough. I thought about cracking a few times, but my good little mama kept me sane and chugging along.

Christmas was amazing. I got hooked up with a new camera, an ice-cream-ball-maker-thing (WHAT?!), de-stressing lotions & potions, new shoesies, grocery & gas gift cards, pink pajamas... I got other stuff too. Lots of other stuff. Yes, I am a lucky, lucky girl. Lola got a $25 gift card to Petsmart. She's really excited. So excited, she might go in and poop on Petsmart's floor...again. :)

Next up is New Years and then school. Only one week off, but one week that I'm taking full advantage of. I've been going to the gym with my dad during the day, and back again at night with my mom. Between those times, I hang out, walk around, watch movies, and cuddle up on Lola. Yes, vacation life is gooood.

I may or may not update my blog during the rest of my time off. Of course, that would warrant me doing something this week worthy of an update. Like something other than me thinking about cleaning my place...

P.S. With my new camera around, I plan on actually putting up pictures in my posts now. Cool, right?! Too bad my camera and I are fighting right now. It's being bitchy about memory cards and crap. What-ever.

"I'm a neurosurgeon - I operate on brains."

So last night I went to the bar with a few friends from school. We decided to have a beer to celebrate all of us passing the math competency test in Pharmacology. We went right after class, so we were all in our scrubs. This conversation ensued:

Random man:
"Hey! Like I noticed that you're all wearing like uniforms so I had to come over. So what are they for?"

Me:
"Uhh...they're scrubs - hospital uniforms actually. I'm a neurosurgeon - I operate on brains. And these guys are my scrub nurses. We just finished a 16-hour surgery so we decided to come have a beer."

Random man:
"Really? That's awesome. Like...I bet you make a lot of money and sh*t, huh!"

Me:
"Yep. But I don't let it affect me, hence why I'm hanging out in this little dive bar, drinking cheap beer."

Random man:
"Wow. Seriously. I totally respect that. Like...that's so cool and sh*t."

Me:
"I know, my friend. I know."

And then he left. Yep. Pretty much gonna wear my scrubs everywhere now. LOL! ;)

Christmas Goodies

Lola and I took a walk yesterday. I got home and even though it was cold and already getting dark, I just felt like walking. Lola did too. :) We walked down to the river bottoms, then back up and around the block. And then I checked my mail. This is a grand statement, as I don't check my mailbox often...thank-you-very-much online billing! My mailbox was stuffed full with the usual obligatory junk, but below that was a lovely array of green, red and white envelopes, stuffed full of cute Christmas goodies! I have good intentions of sending Christmas cards every year, and I even thought about taking a picture of Lola & me, and then going to Walgreen's, but once again...I didn't make it happen. One day when I have loads of time, I will send cute Christmas cards...along with finishing that book, making that quilt, and taking that yoga class. LOL! Anyway, I just wanted to send a quick thank you to everyone that sent me Christmas cards. I love you all so much and I spent a good deal of time last night pouring over your cards, letters and pictures. You all make me laugh, smile and just feel insanely thankful to have such wonderful people in my life! Thank you!! :D

Sunday Morning

It's Sunday morning. I'm sitting here in my pj's, typing my Hematology notes in preparation for finals in about a week. I've got a warm cup of coffee and a sleeping puppy in my lap. Oh and I'm watching it snow outside. Just wanted to throw a quick shout-out to the Maker: thanks for these little moments.

The half-way "Top Ten"

I wrote a blog post this morning about my experience last night at the shelter. It was long, heart-breaking and damn good. I may or may not post it later. At the very least, I feel better after writing it. So for now, in lieu of that blog post, I've decided to post a "Top 10". I am about half-way through my classes right now. In about one year, I will most likely be making some major life changes as a result of the decision I made to become a Veterinary Technologist over a year ago. In honor of my half-way point, here is my list of things of the top ten I've learned over the past year:

10.
Sometimes the assigned "pooper-picker-upper" isn't able to get everything cleaned up during clinic shifts. Tennis shoes with intricate soles may keep your feet from getting sore and look cool, but they're a bitch when you have to clean poop out of them.

9.
Advising your personal doctor that "he could really clear up your hand x-rays if he'd just adjust the KVp of the x-ray machine" is probably not the best idea.

8.
Eric is insanely enthusiastic and passionate about his craft. Even though PCV’s and fecal floats may not seem all that fascinating, a lecture from him will leave you wanting to cheer for the damn things.

7.
Trying to get blood from a cat's jugular will make you curse cats. Cats are dumb. Dumb, dumb, DUMB!

6.
Hitting the jugular on a cat may make you spout tears of joy. Cats are so cool! I LOVE LOVE LOVE CATS!

5.
Jill loves birds. Her passion for them may make you wonder how you can incorporate avian medicine into your career...even though you plan to work with horses.

4.
Pit Bulls get an unfair, bad rap. These plucky, gentle giants will lay still while you poke and prod them while learning about venipuncture, only to retaliate with bouncing loads of affection.

3.
Believe it or not, your head will not actually explode from "information overload" during Tina's Pharmacology class. Holding your forehead to keep your brain from falling out will mostly likely only get you odd looks from your classmates.

2.
It is important to keep your mouth closed when giving an intra-nasal Bordatella vaccination to a snotty, coughing dog. Also, wear goggles if given the option. Better yet...is there a hazmat suit available?

1.
A field trip to the shelter will never get any easier. Feeling a starving kitten's spine press into your gloved hand while you're syringe-feeding it de-wormer will break your heart. Congratulations, you have a heart. Consider your decision to become a Veterinary Technologist money and time well spent.

Proposition

I work in an old, historic building.
There are a lot of big windows with
exposed brick walls and open ceilings.

It's "edgy" and "urban". It's also FUH-REEEEZING!

In an effort to be a team player, I proposed the following today:
BLANKET FORTS! YES!

I decided that our space heaters are pointless,
as heat rises and is lost. In an effort to trap said heat,
I'm pretty sure blanket forts are in order.

Some at work called me a crazy trouble-maker,
but I prefer the term "visionary".

Roasted Turkey & Pumpkin Pie Dreams

So...I am alive. Thank you to those that have emailed me, inquiring about this fact. You make me feel loved. :) Life is good here. As usual, I'm staying very busy which tends to mean less blog updates.

School is going great. This quarter has turned out to be A LOT tougher than I thought, but I love how much more involved I'm getting. I made it through my math competency test and midterm in Pharmacology. Sometimes I think my head might explode with everything that I'm learning in that class, but it is completely fascinating at the same time. My Hematology class is also going well. I did really well on my midterm in that class, so YAY for that! I've also been going in an extra night at school each week to practice blood draws. Dogs are pretty easy for me, but cats intimidate me for some reason. But, I'm told it's the same old adage: practice makes perfect.

School is flying by. I've already registered for next quarter! It wasn't without some major stress about crappy schedule changes first (meh), but I'll be taking Parasitology, Small Animal Nutrition & Nursing, and Production Animals next quarter. Production Animals! EEEEE! I'm so excited for that class! I love dogs and cats (except for my mom's cat, of course! :P), but large animals are so much more interesting to me. Only two more quarters and I'll be signing up for EQUINE! WOOT! I'm hoping to get on a at large animal hospital starting in January. I'm planning on volunteering on Saturdays and then hopefully some late-night ER stuff when the opportunity arises. It will definitely pack my schedule with full-time work and school already in play, but oh well...I'll sleep when I'm dead, right? :}

Miss Lola Grizzle is her old, plucky self. Awww...I love me some Lola. :) I try to spend every free moment I can manage with her. I worry sometimes that my schedule leaves her feeling neglected, but she seems quite content with life right now. I think she actually enjoys it, because my guilt tends to lead to extra dog biscuits and more time for her to sleep in my (read: her) bed. HAHA!

So that is life as of late. Thanksgiving is tomorrow. YUSSS! My favorite holiday! Once again, I have so much to be thankful for. For one, I'm thankful to be tired. HA! As much as I love sleep, I love even more that I have the opportunity to work which allows me to enrich my life with school, pay for a warm place to live and keep food in my belly. I'm also thankful for my family. I don't know what I'd do if my mom wasn't around to let me freak out every once in a while and then calm me back down, a dad that makes me feel safe and supported without even saying anything, and a brother that provides nonstop comedy relief. Oh and Lola Grizzle. She keeps me sane and entertained, and she is my family. Puh-puh-puh-puppy faaaace! Also, my friends. I don't get to spend as much time with them anymore, but they're always welcoming and they are sometimes the best form of stress release this girl could ask for! I have so many more things I could add to this list like caffeine, the amazing men and women in uniform that fight for our freedoms, and new Miranda Lambert music (HAHA!), but I think my blog post is already waaay too long.

I hope everyone has a super fabulous Thanksgiving! May you and your family be blessed with roasted turkey and pumpkin pie dreams! Loves to all! xoxoxAC

Friday Night Cool

It's Friday night and I'm doing homework. Oh and posting on my blog. :}

School is tough this quarter. Still completely rewarding, but insanely stressful at the same time. We were talking the other night in class how before this we were learning important stuff, but not necessarily deadly stuff. I'm taking Veterinary Pharmacology this quarter. It's basically one giant mathematical-story-problem-of-a-class! As in figure out how much medication you need to give this animal based on their weight, then figure out how to do it over a certain time period, oh and make sure to account for any diseases, dehydration issues, temperatures, wars, crying babies, missing socks, etc. AHHHH! Yeah. We have a veterinary math competency test this week that you have to get 100% on, or you don't pass the class. It seems unfair, but when it was put to us that if you only got 98% right on an animal's treatment, you could kill it. Lovely, right? And cue stress!

I suppose things wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't set such a high bar for myself. We get four chances on the test, but I need to pass it the first time. I have volunteered, stayed late, always been the first to try something, requested extra duties, and busted my butt with studying & homework, because I want to be the best. I know I'm not that old, but I'm too old to be mediocre with this. I don't have the advantage of being super young with a lot of time on my hands to gain experience anymore.

So here I sit. Friday night. Doing homework, reading and studying. I'm missing out on a vacation this weekend, my friends' annual Halloween party and just general shenanigans, but I chose this. Lucky for me, I have the following two things going for me: I absolutely love what I'm learning and doing, and I truly believe in what I'm doing.

10.29.2009

Worth. Every. Minute.

I just got home from school. I was supposed to be home around 9 PM, but I just spent the last two hours with Roxie. Roxie is the little, old Boston Terrier that I mentioned a couple posts ago. Roxie got to have dental surgery tonight which went well. Her recovery? Not so much. When I did my nightly walk-thru of the dog room, I noticed she was bundled up with bags of hot water surrounding her, but still shivering. When I pulled her out of her kennel, her lips were cold so I did a quick temperature check. Normal for dogs? 99.5-102.5 degrees. Roxie? 93.4 degrees. One of the other girls started rubbing her down, trying to wake her up a little so she'd move around. It helped a little, but she had super slow reflexes and had stopped shivering (not a good thing). So I grabbed her, stuck her under my scrub top, and had someone hold hot water bottles and blankets against us. I was a heating BT burrito! I spent two hours with Roxie tucked in my shirt and checking her vitals every 20 minutes. I'm happy to report that her temperature was brought up to 98 degrees - normal and safe for recovering surgical patients. :)

Say post one more time. Post!

It's 1:46 AM. And I'm awake. Something I ate today is not agreeing with me, so here I am posting a post, just to post a post.

Say post one more time. Post! 1:49 AM. Awesome.

Earlier this afternoon (as in yesterday), I was out at my parents' house for dinner. The weather was so insanely gorgeous that I spent most of the afternoon outside with Lola and Pinner. After watching Lola run through the crunchy, gold leaves, I decided I needed my shiny new camera that I'm pretty sure Santa (read: Mom) might have gotten me for Christmas, so I could take some pretty pictures. Santa did not agree. So, here's a random one from my cell phone. Lola was hot and panting from running around so much that it was hard to get a pic with her mouth closed...mostly because of the slow shutter speed from my camera phone. Man, my life is so hard sometimes. ;)

1:54 AM.

It's my blog and I'll whine if I want to!

This will hopefully be a quickie post. Riiiight. I just got home from school. Another fascinating night in Pharmacology learning how to convert different units and figure out correct dosages to give correct meds. It's a lot of math. A lot. Love that class, though. :) I had Hematology last night. We learned how to make blood smears. A tiny drop of blood smeared across a slide so you can view it with a microscope. That's all it is. It is also one of the most frustrating things I've ever tried to conquer! You can't have pooling or clotting or air bubbles or tails...you have to worry about pressure and not running the spreader slide into your fingers holding the other slide...you have to control the speed and angle at which you smear the blood depending on the size of the drop...you need different levels of cells to get a correct diagnosis... GAH! We had to make 10 perfect smears before we could leave...let's just say it was a late, late night for the whole class!

My work pretty much cut off all of our internet access. No more email, Facebook, MirandaLambert.com...and no blog. :( I'm the first to admit I was on the internet a lot at work, but it was never at the expense of my work. When I have stuff to do, I drop everything, I complete it and I sometimes do it better than anyone else could have - hence my "exceeds expectations" reviews. I know the internet is generally a no-no at work, but when there's nothing else to do... Come on! This, of course, comes after a year of layoffs, salary freezes and increased health benefits. Damn. Can I graduate and just go save ponies already?!?!

I got a little teary tonight at school. I covered another girl's clinic shift because she was sick. When I walked into the dog room, I spotted a new dog: a little Boston Terrier. Bleh! She's a quiet, sweet, little, old BT...and she broke my heart. Lola will be her before I know it. She laid her head down on my arm while I took her pulse. She's kenneled right next to Zeke, a happy, TRAINED black lab that lays down for me when I need to draw his blood. Zeke is across from Moe, a cute Cocker Spaniel mix that will lay in your lap for days just to get his neck scratched. I do what I can to help and that gets me through things, but it still hurts to see such cute, loving animals go through there. Save a life, people. Adopt a shelter pet.

That is all for tonight. With no internet access at work, it will be hard for me to update my blog as much. I just laughed out loud wondering if I really write anything with substance anways. Oh well...it's my blog and I'll whine if I want to. HA! :P Despite everything, life is quite lovely. It always is. Even when I'm super busy and tired and cranky, I never forget how lucky I am. Oh and how much I'm looking forward to the new Assassin's Creed game on xBox. Two more paychecks, baby! WOO! BUWAHAHAHA!

Keep being AWESOME!

BUWAHAHAHAHA!

Pharm?! *heh* Good luck.

I had my first Pharmacology class last night.

pharm- : relating to drugs or medicine
-ology : the study of
( HA! Take that former-medical-terminology-class! :P )

I started getting a little nervous about this class when random students would walk in, ask what class we were in, then laugh a little and say, "Good luck." HAHA! "Uh...thanks?" It's apparently one of the toughest classes in the program! And that was pretty much confirmed last night when we simply went over what we would be learning. I think my head might actually get a little bigger this quarter with all of the information I'm about to cram into it!

I am super excited about this class, though. And yes, I know I say that about every class I take! I just feel like I'm really getting into the thick of things now! When people ask me why their veterinarian prescribed certain meds or can I help them with different treatments, I can start saying, "YES!" and, "Would you like a full blood workup with that because I'm awesome at hitting veins the first time!!" BHAAAA!

Seriously, life rules the cool school. La la laaaaaa!

10.06.2009

"1, 2, 3...Stick!"

First Hematology (blood) class last night. We hit the ground running and spent our first lab doing venapunctures, aka blood draws. When our professor asked who wanted to go first, I stood on my tippy-toes and shot my hand in the air. I know I looked like a dork and the teacher's pet and whatever else you wanna call it, but I don't care. I told myself when I started, I would try everything and not be bashful about it. I'd like to report that I hit a vein every time...the first try...on all three vein sites - cephalic, lateral saphenous AND...jugular. YES! Go me. :)

10.04.2009

busy busy busy

Drapes hemmed and hung, towels and rugs washed, desk organized, school books lined up, scrubs layed out, laundry done, duvet cover sewed, and Miss Grizzle passed out on her bed at 7:09 PM. Awww...accomplishment. :)

"White Liar" video, Miranda Lambert

Love this song AND the video! Some of the guys they zoom in on are from Miranda's band - Katie and I got to meet these guys last year in Primm and they were so nice and cool! Also, Miranda's parents are both in the video - her dad's walking her down the aisle. I've even gotten a couple emails from Miranda's mom before - seriously like the sweetest person ever! AND...the preacher? JAMEY JOHNSON! Loooove his music! He's seriously bad-ass! XD

Miranda's new CD is still playing in all of my CD players - LOVE IT! :D

Grownup Cosmic Wisdom

I got an email from an ex a couple days ago and another one last night. While it was a little shocking to see something from him, that part really doesn't phase me so much. It's the reflection on how much my life has changed since I knew him. I've spent the last two days thinking back to the places I've lived, friends I've made, friends I've lost, doggies (awww...Lola), boys I've dated, the fact that I drink coffee now (haha!), job changes... Phew! It's crazy to think how much I've experienced in just a short five years! Even crazier is how I've changed as a person. Dare I say it, I've grown up a little! I always laugh at how much I thought knew back then, only to realize that I was kinda just...dumb. LOL! I'm sure there is much more cosmic wisdom I could philosophize on here, but...it's early, I need coffee and I'm still a blonde. Heh. At least some things never change. ;)

9.30.2009

It's a lovely little life.

I woke up at 3:47 AM this morning to the sound of rain smashing into my carport. I was a little annoyed at first, but when I went to close my window, the sweet smell of fresh rain and the iridescent glow of the street light in the late night made me stop. I watched it rain for a few minutes then closed my window a little and opened the blinds. I rounded up my favorite red, white and blue blanket my mom made me and my sleepy puppy. The sound, the soft glow of light, a comfy blanket and a warm puppy made the world just a little more perfect last night.

The House That Built Me

Lyrics to love (and make me cry)...

The House That Built Me -- Miranda Lambert
(Tom Douglas / Allen Shamblin)

I know they say you can’t go home again
I just had to come back one last time
Ma’am I know you don’t know me from Adam
But these hand prints on the front steps are mine

Up those stairs in that little back bedroom
Is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar
I bet you didn’t know under that live oak
My favorite dog is buried in the yard

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave
Won’t take nothing but a memory
From the house that built me

Mama cut out pictures of houses for you
From Better Homes and Gardens magazine
Plans were drawn and concrete poured
Nail by nail and board by board
Daddy gave life to mama’s dream

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave
Won’t take nothing but a memory
From the house that built me

You leave home and you move on and you do the best you can
I got lost in this old world and forgot who I am

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave
Won’t take nothing but a memory
From the house that built me

New music from Miranda Lambert is HERE!!

Just got an email that my iTunes pre-order of "Revolution" is here.

FINALLY! WOOHOOOOOOOO!

I am jamming out to Miranda Lambert music as I type this!

Go, run and BUY!!

Viva la "Revolution"! :D

Leftover Tidbits

I managed to forget my camera this weekend to take hunting. I know, I'm awesome. I told myself that when I opened my suitcase and pulled out the batteries I'd bought for it the night before we left. DOH! I did take some pics with Zach's camera so I'll see if I can steal a few...

I finished up my quarter last week. I got an 'A' in Radiology and a 'B' in Lab Animals, Exotics, and Pocket Pets. I just couldn't get excited over that class. The crapola part was that my percentage was 89.75%. GAH! So. Close. Oh well...a 'B' won't hurt me too bad. I have a week off before I start classes again. Next up is Pharmacology, Hematology and my last general, Earth Sciences. YUSSS!

Miranda Lambert's new album is out tomorrow. TOMORROW! WOOOO! After reading all of the reviews about just how great it is, I'm even more excited than before. How can that be possible, right? Oh it's possible. And a reality. :P

Lastly, I found out some potentially exciting news last week. So exciting that it will melt faces off with awesomeness! Yeah. I'm not gonna talk about it until I find out more. Sorry. I have to do some research first. I'll let ya'll know. :D

Deer Camp 2009

Well I'm home from camping & hunting. That last sentence was typed with a hint of sadness. I love this annual trip. It's no secret. This year was no different.

Zach and I left early Thursday morning, only to arrive to find out our friend had got an elk that morning. After a quick clothing change, we headed up the mountain on 4-wheelers to help bring it out. As I was cruising up the mountain with my dad, I looked at my arms and thought about sunscreen and how I managed to forget it. I spent the rest of the weekend with a wicked farmer tan (read: BURN) and raccoon face. LOL! I went out with my dad on Thursday night to hunt. We didn't see much until right before dark...two does were hanging out on the side of the road. We thought we saw a third until it turned its head at the perfect moment and sported some antlers!! My dad and I both had binoculars on it and realized at the same time we were staring at a buck! The truck pretty much erupted in chaos! Between flying binoculars and trying to get the gun ready, the buck still didn't move. I was able to get my gun on it, but I didn't feel like I could get a good shot through the trees. And even though I had my dad screaming at me to, "Shoot! SHOOT!!!", I didn't. It was my shot and I didn't want to miss or wound, so I didn't take it. I think the best part was when the buck went running towards our camp, so my dad gunned it and flew into camp. Uncle Bob didn't know what the hell was going on, but figured we must have seen "The Big One" by the way we were flying into camp, because he dropped his drink, grabbed his glasses and gun, and just started running. LMAO! For those of you who know Uncle Bob, it was a damn funny sight!

On Friday morning, my dad and I left before dark to get to our favorite hunting spot over by Middle Mountain. We hiked down a steep logging trail to a pretty little meadow. We sat for a while and saw a lot of does, but no bucks. Unfortunately, this was pretty much the trend for the rest of the hunting trip. That night, Zach and I set out in his truck and again saw a lot of does. We did see a little spike buck that night, but definitely not worth shooting. Although, it was standing so close to the truck, I could've reached out with the butt of my gun and konked it on the top of the head. Heh!

Saturday was a slow hunting day, so Zach, my dad and I went out and chopped wood. We did this last year and it was actually a lot of fun. We filled the back of my dad's truck with a lot of great firewood. I think the highlight of this was when we found three dead trees right by each other to cut. The problem was that they were quite a ways away from the road...or so we thought. After cutting up one of the trees and hauling some rather large logs to the truck, we realized we could actually maneuver the truck right up to the trees. Of course, this was after a lot of sweating, dragging, grunting and cussing from packing the first tree. HAHA! Saturday night, I went out on 4-wheelers with Uncle Jerry and Derek. We didn't see much (more does), but we had a fun little ride. I have to add that we spent a great deal of our ride picking up cans and garbage off the side of the trails - we always leave our mountains cleaner than when we came. Unfortunately, we came across a disgusting fire pit filled with cans, dirty diapers and just general garbage that we couldn't pack out. People are disgusting. If you disrespect the outdoors like that and I catch you, expect a swift punch to the back of the head, people. Meh.

We packed up and headed home yesterday. Besides the elk on Thursday, nobody managed to get a deer this year. It was definitely a slow year, but nobody minded. We had a lot (A LOT) of great camping food, some awesome campfires and just general camping fun. I got to sleep out in my kick-ass Cabela's canvas tent each night and just enjoyed being up in the mountains. Hopefully next year, I'll get to shoot my first deer...I want some jerky! HAHA!

I had a funny realization on Friday night. I went for a ride in the back of a truck to drop off some of our friends on top of the mountain to hunt that night. I was wearing camo, sporting a nice dirt mustache from not showering for a couple days, had a gun in my arms and was yapping with my childhood buddy, Jared, about how much beer I would drink that night by the campfire, listening to funny hunting stories. It dawned on me that the next day I'd be cutting wood and covered in sawdust, and that in no less than two days (today), I'd be back in the office, wearing nice slacks and sitting in front of a computer. I love my crazy life. :)

Hunting in two days...

Thank God. I don't know if I've ever needed an escape to the mountains more than right now...

A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go...

La la la la la laaaaaa,
A hunting we will gooooo!

I'll be here in one week:

That's right! It's deer-hunting season! FINALLY!
I'm making my list (including camo, beer and boots),
listening to Merle Haggard,
and getting into sneak mode: Be the deer.

BUWAHAHAHAHA!

HUNTING TIME! YUSSSSS! XD

New Music from Ran...getting closer!

New music from Miranda Lambert in two weeks!
TWO WEEKS!! YUSSSS!

Nobody puts baby in a corner... :(

Just like everyone else, Patrick Swayze is synonymous with Dirty Dancing for me. When I was little, I'd spend my summers down in Monticello, Utah at my grandma's house. I remember watching Dirty Dancing with my cousins, Angie & Syd, and my grandma's neighbor's daughter, Krysta, aaallll the time down in Krysta's basement. We thought we were so sneaky, watching that PG-13 movie. LOL! This inevitably lead to some risque dancing (if that's possible for little kids) and many (failed) attempts of "The Lift" at the Monticello public swimming pool. Awww...memories.

Fall

I absolutely love the first time I realize Fall has arrived. It never gets old. I find the yearly realization somewhat comforting and familiar. Nothing specific happens - I just walk outside, feel something in the air, see something in the sky... I felt it this morning. Love it.

JESUS RUVS YOU...even in Vegas :)

*yawn*

I got home a couple hours ago from Vegas. I've decided flying is the only way to go. Six hour car ride versus 50-minute flight? Yeah. Upon arriving home, it was an oven baked pizza followed by a three hour nap. Good times.

Vegas was so much fun! It was fun to hang with my family this time. We ate some delicious food and did a lot of laughing. Oh and a lot of walking...in flip flops. Whatever. Sore feet and a tired body are always indications of a good time in Vegas.

Zach and Mel's wedding was AWESOME! There was no fuss...just a low-key dinner followed by one of the funnest wedding ceremonies under the bright "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign and a crazy limo drive. Even though it was my baby brother, I didn't cry. I couldn't. I could only smile as we were surrounded by some great people while people drove by screaming, "CONGRATULATIONS!" Finishing the night dancing with everyone at a kick-ass bar just topped it off. Congrats to my baby brother and my new sister! :)

Here are a couple highlights from the trip:
  • My brother's wedding. Duh!
  • Forgetting my room number and getting lost on the first night. Oh and having to use the bathroom in a MAJOR way. Rad.
  • Margaritas and nachos from Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville.
  • Wearing a pretty dress and getting glammed out for a Vegas-style wedding.
  • A cold Bud Light after walking (and walking and walking) The Strip in flip-flops.
  • The Bellagio fountains. Classic.
  • Asian people on the street, preaching and reminding us all that, "JESUS RUVS YOU!"
I got home to a super hyper puppy. It's good to be missed. :)

Wednesdays, part 2

Afternoons are worse. Just want to sleep on my desk... I think I just drooled a little on my keyboard.

Wednesdays. Bah.

Tuesday nights this quarter are Radiology nights...and laaaaate nights. Radiology rules. I never notice how late it is when I'm there, but getting home at 11:30-12 at night? Ouch. It really kicks in when my alarm goes off at 5 AM. I seriously get giddy about coffee on Wednesday mornings.

Only two more *yaaawnnn* days 'til Vegas.

9.01.2009

"Pasketti"

I made spaghetti last night. I used hamburger from my family's beef cows from last year, whole wheat pasta noodles, homemade tomato sauce and loads of garlic. Beware, vampires.

I brought leftovers for lunch, which may, dare I say it, be even better than the original meal. I laughed a little when I ate it so quickly and marveled at how long I've loved homemade spaghetti, or "pasketti" if you will. It reminded me of my little cousin, Charlei (Chuck), and how she devoured both hers and Breckyn's bowls at Olive Garden a couple years ago. Oh and my brother. Zachee looooves his spaghetti.

:)

Dog Boxing

I feel like I talk about school a lot (a lot!), but two people just emailed me, wanting to know how it's going and why I haven't blogged about it for a while. Okay, whatever. I obviously don't mind yapping about me. XD

School is all good and gravy. I enjoy my Lab Animals/Exotics/Pocket Pets class, but I know now that field is not for me. As cute as I think bunnies, G. Pigs and other little animals are, they make me feel like I have GIANT hands and that I'm going to break them. LOL! But I still have an open mind about it and find that type of medicine fascinating.

My radiology class is way cool. Regardless of what field I go into, I'll be using what I learn in this class so I study my butt off for it. I wish I could somehow post pics of some of the x-rays I've taken because they're way cool! In my last class we did a "Barium Series" on a dog. Of course, we thought it was cool! The dog? Not so much. I got to restrain the back end of the dog while we were taking x-rays and it was a fight! At one point, I lost one leg and was rewarded with a kick to the face! My professor freaked out that I had possibly got hurt, but I couldn't stop laughing that I'd just gotten a swift uppercut to the chin...from a dog! LMAO!

Yep. School is goooood. :)

8.30.2009

T.S.O. - tooooyyeeeeeezzzzz!

In an effort to distract The Grizz while I clean, I dumped her whole basket of toys out in the living room. I think I put her in Toy Sensory Overload - a real condition, not something I just made up.

I was cleaning the tub and I kept catching her out of the corner of my eye, running from room to room with a different toy each time. She's now collapsed on the kitchen floor. Heh.

Thanks, Jen! :)

YESSSSS!

New music from MIRANDA LAMBERT!!!
WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

*I've know about this for a while, but figured I should finally blog about it. My blog was in definite need of happiness after yesterday's craptacular day. :)

bleh

I hate today. It's stupid. Why does the saying, "when it rains, it pours", have to be so true? It can never be one thing that sets you off. No. It has to pile...all in one day. I either need to indulge in the pot luck lunch my work is having, which I've so far managed to resist...or I need a massive cry. Yep. This day is stupid.

8.25.2009

Viva Las Vegas!

I'm feeling very giddy right at this moment so I figured I'd write that I'm going to Las Vegas in less than two weeks!

WOOOOOOO! VEGAS!!!

My baby brother Zachee's getting married so the whole fam is going down. Ahhh! I can't wait!

I've been tanning and buying some fun clothes. I'm so ready to go lay by a pool, bake in the heat, gamble and drink some obnoxiously large drinks!

Yeah! VEGAAAAAASSSSS!!!! XD

YUM!

I just registered for next quarter. I'm taking taking Basic Hematology, Microbiology & Urinalysis, and Parasitology...or...blood, urine, and parasites. YUM! Haha! I was told that all of my "-ology" classes are pretty intense, so next quarter will be tough...but I'm totally stoked! I'm starting to get into the hardcore stuff now! WOO!

Midterms tonight and tomorrow... :/

8.14.2009

Farmin'...Part 2

I was out watering the garden last night. It got pretty muddy, so I took my shoes off and just went barefoot while I picked veggies. I guess Lola saw this as a free pass to wallow in the mud. Greeeat. Something about the mud ignited a spark because she literally went "hog wild"! After a couple barrel rolls, she got this wild look in her eyes and started running and flipped mud all over me! I was laughing too hard to yell at her, but I got my revenge when she got a bath later...with the hose. HA!

I don't need a pet pig...I apparently already have one. LOL!

Stampede!

Worked with Guinea Pigs in my Exotics class last night. Ah...they were so cute! Mine just nestled up in my lap while I did an exam on her. Cuteness factor aside, they're hilarious little animals. They get excited and do something called "popcorning" which is essentially them just getting really, really excited and jumping up and down out of pure happiness! :D Oh and they "stampede". LMAO! When G. Pigs get scared, they kinda circle and run and stampede like little cows. Funniest thing ever. I love them. I'm pretty sure I need to add them to my menagerie of farm animals. :)

Impressionist X-Ray Art

I took my first "live" x-ray last night. It was good times fo sho! I don't know why I get so excited about this stuff, but I suppose it's a good sign. :) My lab partner and I decided to not play it safe and chose to do a thoracic (chest) view on a big dog. Our first x-ray...not so good. When you push the foot pedal to take the picture, the machine starts whirring. The dog was actually pretty calm until he heard the machine start up, when he tried to bail and roll off the table. The x-ray looked like blurry bones rolling through the film! We deemed it "art". LOL! Our professor wanted to show the class what movement on the film looked like, so it was actually a score for us. HA! Our second film turned out AWESOME. Our dog held still (and we had a better grip!) and the x-ray turned out perfect. :D

I already have midterms next week. EEEP! This quarter is seriously flying by!

8.08.2009

jog jog jog

Just finished a 5K this morning with my mom for the
Ching Farm Rescue & Sanctuary:
http://chingsanctuary.org/index.php.
Craziest, but the best weather ever right now in Utah.
Seriously...60 degrees in August?!

Lola just informed me we're going to the dog park now.

8.06.2009

Heh!

I'm cranky today. I stole this quote from Jonas & Devon's blog.
It makes me feel better. :)

BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE
WHEN YOU PUSH THEM DOWN THE STAIRS

LOVE this song! :)

X-ray THIS!

I had my first practical/hands-on lab last night in Radiography. WOOOO! So much more fun than I expected!! We got to take x-rays of random inanimate objects we brought from home. I brought one of my high heels, a toy pig, a Miranda Lambert key chain and some string cheese. Yeah...that pretty much sums me up in a nutshell. LOL! We learned how to reload cassettes, light-identify our x-rays and develop them too. We were also able to mess around with the settings on the machine to get different effects. My high heel and the toy pig turned out AWESOME! I wish I could somehow post pics of the actual x-rays, but yeah...that requires way more brain power than I have available today. The class was over by about 9:45, but my professor said we could stay and do whatever, so a couple of us stayed and worked in the dark room until about 11 PM. It was way fun, but I am definitely tired today.

We start x-raying actual live animals next week! WOO! Also, I have lecture tonight then a lab tomorrow night on bunnies. BUNNIES!! EEEEE! Oh and there's a dog at the school right now that is seriously the happiest little thing in the world. His name is Harrison, he's a little terrier mix and soooo cute! He's my buddy. We hang out on my breaks. Ummm... Have a I mentioned how much I love what I'm doing? ;)

8.03.2009

Harry Potter: love it!

I went and saw the new "Harry Potter" movie with my mom yesterday. In the words of Harry Potter: "Brilliant!" :)

UPDATE: I forgot to mention how much I loved when during the scary part of the movie, as in a creepy hand grabbing Harry, my mom freaked out and grabbed me. Screaming during "Harry Potter" is cool. LOL!

8.02.2009

sad

I go days and days without thinking about it. But then, despite being busy and loving my current life and sooo many other things to distract me, it comes back with a vengeance. It's been over a year. Is it ever going to stop?

7.31.2009

"What are we gonna do tonight, Brain?!"

I got to play with mice and rats last night in school. I was a little skeered at first. I wasn't really afraid of being bit...more just the shock of it, then accidentally throwing said mouse/rat against the wall. It was a little ridiculous since just last quarter I got gnawed on by a massive pit bull at the shelter. LOL! Anyway, after the initial shock, I LOVED them! There were pretty cute. Their little eyes and twitchy nose got me. One day when I have a farm, I'm going to get two rats and maybe a small herd of mice. Then I can tap lightly on the glass and say, "What are we gonna do tonight, Brain?!" Heh!

P.S. If you don't know what that means...laaaaaame. ;)

7.29.2009

Oh thanks.

Thanks for putting all of my socks in one place, Lola.
Here I was worried they were disappearing, when you were actually hording them...under my bed.

7.27.2009

"It's like we're drinking in a hottub!"

So the concert on Thursday was AWESOME! Truth be told, it was miserable and HOT. HOT, HOT, HOT! It was 104 degrees-HOT! Zach and I went early and wandered around the stadium for a bit, then grabbed some beer and hung out in the cheap seats until everyone else got there. Lady Antebellum came on first and they were pretty good. Miranda came on next, and yes, I'm biased, but she ROCKED! I love Miranda's music for its country side, but she knows how to rock out! She played for a little over an hour and it was awesome - I danced and sang the whole time. Kenny Chesney was up last. I'm not the biggest Kenny fan (I like his older stuff better), but you can't deny that he puts on a great show. I don't think Zach, my mom or I sat down the entire time. It was a little miserable since it was so hot, but there was nothing we could do about it so we made the best of it and sweated our butts off, dancing and singing for the entire concert. My throat hurt from singing and my calves killed from jumping around so much - it was a great time! That being said, Rio Tinto stadium sucks. LOL! We bought the more expensive tickets to get "better" seats, but we couldn't see anything - the stage was still so far away. That and everything was so expensive. I heard they even ran out of water. Given the extreme temperature, you would think they'd plan on people buying a lot of water. Hmmm. Weird. I honestly will never pay to go to another concert there - it's just not the right venue. But, I'll always remember that concert and how much fun our sweaty, messy butts had. :)

Friday morning I took the day off work to go downtown with my fam for Zach & Mel's engagement pics. That was pretty fun! I came to the conclusion that my enjoyment of taking pics is completely dependent upon the camera. I HATE little, digital cameras - they take forever to take the picture or wait for the flash, or they just don't turn out that great. That is the primary reason I don't post pics on my blog - the interruption of stopping to take a picture is so great that I don't even bother anymore to take a camera with me most places. I know, I get your emails about never posting any pictures, but it seriously drives me crazy! After using my brother's new camera on Friday morning, I now know what I want for Christmas. I had already thought about asking for a nice camera, but now I'm convinced. The pictures were easy to take, came out GREAT and they didn't take FOREVER to focus or reload to take the next pic. Proof for the pudding...here are two of the pics I took on Friday morning. :)

The rest of my weekend was pretty mellow. I got to hang out with family friends, the Smiths, Penas and Schmidts, on Friday night. I love those peeps - they're pretty much my second family. I spent Saturday driving my mom around since my dad took their only working vehicle to work. It was payback for my mom dragging my butt around all those years, I guess. ;) Sunday was laundry day. Oh and movie day! Zach and I watched my new favorite movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" (Dolly Parton is soooo cute in that one!) and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". I still haven't seen the new Harry Potter movie yet, so I was glad to get that one in and get caught up! HARRY POTT-AH! WOO!

That's that. Busy, but mellow weekend. Yay for that. :) xoxoxAC

Miranda Lambert! TONIGHT! AHHH!

YES! It's finally here! Goin' to see Miranda Lambert,
Kenny Chesney and Lady Antebellum...TONIGHT!

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The Stink Eye

My class went until 11 PM last night. When I finally got home, took Lola out, made food for today, washed my face and all that other fun stuff, it was 12 AM before I finally got to bed. Lola was not happy. When I went to wake her up this morning to take her out (yes, my dog likes to sleep in), she would not get out bed. When I finally ripped the covers off her, she gave me the stink eye. It was bad enough that I actually apologized for disturbing her.

7.21.2009

Two more days! YEAH! RAN!

Only two more days 'til Ran, Kenny, Sugarland and Lady A! WOOO!

La la la! So excited! :D

"I am Stupid" lives! I just talked to him!

I just emailed some paperwork to an agent. He called back seriously pissed off because he needed TWO copies. Ummm...hello? Just hit the print button again! IDIOT!!

George & Satan's Minions *shudder*

Well my mom, Katie, Dustin and I went to the George Strait concert on Friday night. One word: AMAZING! I honestly have to say that it was the best concert I’ve ever been to. The opening acts were Julianne Hough and Blake Shelton. We didn’t get to see much of Julianne, but Blake was great. I really started to enjoy his music after I saw him last year in Primm. His song “Goodbye Time” gets me every time. Blake was his hilarious, redneck self as usual - he had on a flannel shirt and thermals and then bitched about how hot it was. Seriously? LOL! George was just...great. He just sang. And then sang some more. It’s kinda fun when artists talk and joke around a little between songs, but George didn’t really do that. He was very gracious in that he’d bow and say thank you after every song, then just start up again. His new song “Living for the Night” is so good! I’m a sucker for sad country songs, and that one is excellent! When he sang his classic song “The Chair”, it was a little tough. I love and hate that song for the memories it brings back. He also sang Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” which was so fun! I just sat and sang along and stared at how damn cute he was all night! I was sad when the concert ended - I wanted more! If he makes it back to Utah again, you can be damn sure I’ll be going!

I spent Saturday running errands. Oh and putting together mother$%#@ing bar stools for three hours. GAH! I bought some saddle-style stools for my counter and the sales guy at the furniture shop told me they came assembled. He is a liar. My thumbs are bruised and I wouldn’t mind going back and kicking that guy in the shins. GRRR! Saturday night I went and played cards with the Riverton-ites (Katie & Dustin). It’s our weekend tradition. It hasn’t gotten old or any less funny yet. :)

Yesterday I was a sewing biotch. I finished the top for my duvet cover. YAY! It almost took all day, but it was good times. I just need to sew the back on and put some buttons on the end to keep the down comforter in place. WOOHOO! I’m so excited to get it done. It dawned on me yesterday that this is the first blanket-thing that I’ve ever made for myself - I always make stuff for other people. So that makes it ever cooler! (the pic is an “in process” snapshot - I’ll post another one when it’s all done)

My summer break is officially over. I start classes again tomorrow night. I have classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights this quarter and no online courses. YUSSSS! Hopefully this quarter should be a little less stressful. Although, since it’s summer, the quarter is shortened so I’ll be in class that much later. I have a radiography class which I’m totally looking forward to, then one on lab animals, exotics and pocket pets. I’m not too sure about that class yet. As much as I love animals, if I have to work with one of Satan’s minions (aka, disgusting, evil spiders), it may be the end of my career. LOL! Just kidding...I’ll just fail the class for running and screaming down the hallway like a little girl. :)

One last Lola note. Yesterday when I laid out all the squares for my quilt, I was walking around the outside so I didn’t mess them up. A while later when I was working on sewing individual squares together, I looked over and saw Lola walking around the edges, eyeing them funny like they were hot lava! She must have seen me and figured out not to walk on them. LOL! I love her.

Excitement has set in! George!!!

It just hit me that I'm going to see George Strait in concert tonight! AHHHHHH! I just had a little excitement fest at my desk! I'm so flippin excited! I've never seen George in concert before which is definitely lame since he's pretty much my favorite country artist ever. Yes, I love Miranda's music sooo much, but there's just something about George! Happy dance! Happy dance! Happy dance!!!!! XD

Miranda Lambert's New Video!

"Dead Flowers"

Ahhh...greatness! :D

7.15.2009

Uhh...

When you're down at the river bottoms jogging with your dog,
is it impolite to stop and stare at a guy jogging...in a Speedo?

7.14.2009

George *drool*

This is George Strait's new album cover.
Did I mention how excited I am to see him in concert? ;)

Killer Two Weeks! WOOOOO!

So I found out yesterday that I'm going to the George Strait, Blake Shelton and Julianne Hough concert next Friday! YUSSSSS!

GEORGE STRAIT! He hasn't been to Utah since 1998. I can't even begin to show how damn excited I am for this! George happens to sing my favorite song in the whole world. And hello.....he's soooo HOT! HAHA! Love him! XD

Oh and yeah...Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and Lady A next week! WOO!

I'm sooooo excited!!!! EEEEEEE!

Say NO to the Dress Place

I'm home from a long day of wedding dress shopping with Adrie and her mom (Vicki-Mom). We went to two stores. The first one SUCKED! The people didn't help at all. They didn't ask Adrie what she wanted and they didn't even help her try on the frickin' dresses! I ended up helping her in and out of them. I was more than happy to help her and we definitely got some good giggles in about tulle and about the best way to get out of a dress (HA!), but I was blown away that the sales people weren't helping us. And we were the only people in there!!! Oh wait...the sales lady did pull some FUGLY ASS dresses for her to try on then offer super obscure compliments. GAH! Seriously?! I was tempted to smack her upside the back of the head! The second place was great, though. Vicki-Mom and I were able to sit down and "oooohhhh" & "aaahhhh" over dresses. Adrie looked sooo pretty! I got a little teary in the beginning, but after that it was all good. Adrie found some favorites, but not sure if she hit The One...yet. I took loads of pics, but I can't post them in case her fiance somehow happens upon my blog. :( It was really fun, though. I always, always, ALWAYS laugh my butt off with Adrie. I'm so happy for her and I can't wait 'til her wedding! :D

7.11.2009

"scrappy"

Just got home from the fabric store. I love the fabric store - I could spend hours there! Yes, I'm an eighty year old! :-}

I found some pretty cool fabrics. I'm going for the old school country quilt look. It's definitely "scrappy". It was hard to not go so "matchy-matchy" - I had to take some deep breaths. HA!

I was totally stoked to come home and start cutting, but now I can't find my roller cutter thing. GRRRR. The project has come to a halt.

7.10.2009

Working on a sunny, Friday afternoon.

Lame sauce.

Ooohhh doggie...weekend's here! :D

Ahhh...the weekend is here. *smile* Sometimes I feel like I just live for the weekends. Don't get me wrong. I like working for a living; it gives me a sense of independence and self worth in that that I’m an overall contributing member of society. Yep. But man...weekends rule!

Lola and I went down to the river bottoms last night for our (now) daily walk. The entrance to the trail isn’t too far, so instead of driving I just add the distance into our nightly mileage. Anyway when we got outside, Lola went ballistic...over my neighbor's car! I have no idea what set her off, but I’m pretty sure if she wore pants, she would have pooped in them! LOL! I figured there was a cat or skunk or something skulking around, but she was literally freaking out over the car. She would get close - hair all raised, growling, shaking - sniff the bumper or tire a little, then retreat and bark. It was the same story when we got back AND when we went outside this morning. Apparently she now associates black Mazda's with evil, vile garbage trucks! The best part of it all is that my neighbor saw this. So now not only do I have the crazy neighbor girl reputation, but my dog is a nutcase too! Great. I scare the piss out my neighbor by literally screaming that "I’VE GOT HER MAIL!!!!", I accidentally wear my shirt backwards in front of her, my dog freaks out over inanimate objects... I can’t catch a frickin’ break! LOL!

I have signed up for Twitter. I actually just rolled my eyes and shook my head when I wrote that. What the hell do I do that’s so important that it deserves an immediate update, right? Yeah...exactly what I was thinking. I have a couple friends at work that use it and I do like to read a couple different celebrities' "tweets" so I was convinced to sign up. So far...I can’t find my friends on there and my first message wouldn’t post. So yeah...I’m really impressed so far. Riiiight. Does anyone else use Twitter???

Adrien’s plane lands in just a couple hours. YAY! I’m so excited to see her. I don’t know her fiance too well yet, but I’m looking forward to hanging out with them both this weekend. On Sunday, I’m going up to the Uinta mountains to go FISHING and have some dutch oven cooking! Ooohhh doggie! So excited for that. I didn’t get to go fishing last weekend like I’d hoped, so I plan to catch all the steenkin’ feesh I can on Sunday! Mmmm...fish fry! WOO! Oh and less than two weeks 'til the concert!! YUSSS! I hope everyone has a super lovely weekend! xoxoxAC

Silly Brother

My brother says when I get bored, I write more on my blog. My last two posts were about drunk badgers and Belgium waffles. I have no idea what he's talking about. :)

Just got back from Belgium...

HA! Just kidding! I just had lunch at Bruges Waffles & Frites which is close enough! This is a new tiny restaurant in downtown Salt Lake City and...Lordie is it ever good! Real, authentic Belgium waffles! They don't use the batter like "normal" waffles. These were made with dough and they're sweet so you don't need syrup. I got a waffle with bananas and cream on it. Oh and some fries. That's all they serve! Apparently, waffles and fries are the cool combo in Belgium. Lola and I are gonna have to do about EIGHT miles down at the river tonight! How everyone there does not weigh 400 pounds is a mystery to me! Anyway, I will definitely have to go back there. In fact, I may have to drag the fam downtown to sit outside on the sidewalk for some delicious hardcore waffles on a sunny, weekend morning! Mmmmmmmm! XD

Drunk Badger Disrupts Traffic in Germany

BUWAHAHA! Nothing like animals stickin' it to The Man! HA!

Drunk Badger Disrupts Traffic Germany

BERLIN - A badger in Germany got so drunk on over-ripe cherries it staggered into the middle of a road and refused to budge, police said Wednesday.

A motorist called police near the central town of Goslar to report a dead badger on a road — only for officers to turn up and discover the animal alive and well, but drunk.

Police discovered the nocturnal beast had eaten cherries from a nearby tree which had turned to alcohol and given the badger diarrhea. Having failed to scare the animal away, officers eventually chased it from the road with a broom.

Adrien's Wedding Page

My friend, Adrien, that I wrote about the other day has a wedding page! It's so cute. For those of you who don't know, Adrien has been my best friend for...FOREVER! So many memories of Flaming Gorge trips, cruising State Street, long, long, long talks and TONS of laughs! Awww...love her! :) Anyway, here is a link to her wedding page:

And yes, I am on the wedding party page...in a cowboy hat...during some random party. HAHA! Go me! :D

Dumb Blonde

This morning I missed my freeway entrance.
I realized waaay too late that I was in the wrong lane.
Oh how I enjoy my little trips to space camp.

Makes me want to get a dirty job...

A couple things...

The weekend was glorious! I ate a super delicious hamburger on Saturday, laughed my butt off playing lots of cards with friends, drank some American beer and waved sparklers for the 4th of July. Seriously. Is there anything better? :)

In my bid to get more organized and have a pretty place, I bought a new desk and book shelf from Ikea. Since I started school again, I've managed to assemble quite the collection of massive medical books and my kitchen pantry wasn't cutting it as a holding space. Anyway, I got my computer all set up, went to put a shelf on the little computer stand and realized I put the frickin' thing together wrong. Brilliant, A.C. Brilliant.

My best friend Adrien is coming into town on Friday. YAY! I haven't seen her since Christmas so I'm super stoked! She's getting married next year in June and has asked me to be the maid of honor. Awww...I'm so excited! I'm going wedding dress shopping with her on Monday. Can't wait!

Lastly, I watched "Dirty Jobs" on Discovery channel last night. Love that show! If a "Dirty Jobs" (or "Deadliest Catch") marathon is on, I'm pretty much screwed - I can't stop watching! It doesn't help that Mike Rowe is f*ckin HOT! HOT! My cousin Angie told me that my cousin Syd saw him in a bar in San Francisco once. LUCKY! HAHA! Makes me want to go get a dirty job... Mmmm! HOT! :P

Happy Fourth of July, 2009!

Short work-day, loooong three-day weekend! WOOHOO! Is there anything better than living in this country?! :D

I have a super busy weekend planned. Mhmm. It shall be filled with sushi, pedicures and BBQ's. LOL! Oh yeah...life is definitely good sometimes. I am also hoping to get outta the valley for a bit and do some fishing! YEAH! I haven't been this year yet and I'm pretty sure that's a crime. ;) I hope everyone has a fabulous 4th!

Oh yeah...one more thing. Three more weeks until the concert! MIRANDA, Kenny, Sugarland and Lady Antebellum! EEEEEEE!!!!! So excited!! XD
